Pam Merlo I have been involved in Art Education for well over 30 years, and have been fortunate enough to have been able to work with people of all age groups and abilities, from the elderly at a Day Care centre, prisoners at Pentridge, enthusiastic students at the Living and Learning Centre and my own night classes to teaching at State Secondary and Primary schools. I am presently employed part time in an Adolescent Psychology unit at a Melbourne Hospital. My involvement with Art Education and people from all walks of life, has been the inspiration for most of my sculpture through the years. I have completed many commissions of caricatures of people and animals including family “Portraits”.I love to observe people and their actions and responses, their movements and moods in everyday life and depict them in my sculpture.
I have taught and worked in a variety of media including clay, wood ,metal,(precious metals ,bronze and recycled tin, brass and copper) and acrylics. At present my work is constructed from mostly recycled materials and found objects. I am passionate about Art Education, creating my own sculpture, and sharing artistic experiences.
